I Had Four Photos Left From My Childhood. They Changed What I Create Today.

I was kidnapped as a child.

I never found my way back to the family who loved me.

Today, what remains of that part of my childhood can be held in my hands: four photographs.

Four.

Everything else lives somewhere I can no longer reach. Memories that once had faces, places, colors, voices, and details have softened with time. I can no longer clearly picture my mother's face in my mind.

But there is something time did not erase.

I remember how it felt to be loved.

I don't share that for sympathy. I share it because it became part of the reason Testify Swag Official exists.

Some Things Are Too Important to Leave to Memory Alone

Your story may look nothing like mine.

Maybe you're a mother whose children are growing so quickly that yesterday already feels far away.

Childhood doesn't last forever. Neither do our opportunities to place truth in the hands and hearts of our children.

These aren't simply pictures to collect. They are truths to remember.

Before children are old enough to understand everything the world will tell them about who they are, we have an opportunity to repeatedly place something better in front of them — God's Word, His promises, His faithfulness, His love.

The pieces don't transform a child's mind. God's truth does. They simply give families a way to return to that truth again and again.

And maybe years from now, when some of the smaller details have faded, a child won't remember every lesson word for word. But maybe they'll remember sitting beside Mom, or Grandma, or a Sunday school teacher — moving those little pieces across a board while someone told them about Jesus.

Sometimes what remains isn't every detail of the memory. Sometimes what remains is what was written on the heart.

I understand that personally. I may have only four photographs left from that childhood. But I still know I was loved.
